Understandably, that is the question that everyone asks. The most common cause of spinal problems is vertebral subluxation. This
occurs when the vertebrae becomes locked in one position, causing a
slight misalignment and subsequent pressure onto the spinal nerves. As
you can see from the picture, impinging the nerves can, in turn
interfere with the body functions as listed.
Pain is
actually a very poor indicator of subluxations although long standing
subluxations inevitably cause pain such as backaches, headaches etc. Subluxations can also cause spinal degeneration (excessive wearing), resulting in Osteoarthritis.
Unfortunately therefore
many people do not seek chiropractic care until there are painful
symptoms to be treated. This often means the problem has built over
many years but something simple triggers the pain such as a "pinched
nerve"...it is like your body saying "this is the last straw!
It is quite common for the
pain to be in a location totally separate to where the subluxation
occurs due to the myriad of nerves that may be interfered with. A
better question to understand is "What caused the subluxation?"
Migraine, back pain, neck pain and headaches…our
centres are specialist treatment centres for you if you suffer from
migraine, neck pain or headaches. For migraine sufferers, it can
sometimes be an unfortunate process of trialling several treatments
(diet, nutrition, chemical, physical) in order to find what is most
helpful for you.
However, recent
studies conducted by Dr Tuchin and other researchers around the world,
have found that, for some people, the most significant factor in their
ongoing migraines and headaches are physical problems treatable with
chiropractic. Please do not hesitate to contact Peter for a copy of
these research findings.
In
many cases, if the mechanics of the spinal process are impeded, this
induces and/or exacerbates headaches, migraine and back pain. Our
clinics specialise in assisting patients to cut down and in some cases
completely eliminate these problems through chiropractic, massage and
teaching a tailored postural and exercise program for you.
